The Defense Department announced that its potential ten-year, $10 billion Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure (JEDI) cloud computing contract, which was first awarded to Microsoft in Oct. 2019, has been canceled due to cloud advancement and the development of other initiatives. "JEDI was developed at a time when the Department’s needs were different and both the CSPs technology and our cloud conversancy was less mature,” said John Sherman, acting DOD CIO.

Navy Team Triumphs in AWS’ Inter-Service Machine Learning Race

A U.S. Navy team won an inter-service racing competition hosted by Amazon Web Services and aimed to teach participants the basics of machine learning. Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic-led Team DeepBlueSea received the DeepRacer golden trophy after its victory against six finalists from the Navy and seven others from the Army in building the fastest ML-based autonomous race car.
