Ball Aerospace Ships TEMPO Spectrometer For Spacecraft Integration; Makenzie Lystrup Quoted

Ball Aerospace announced on Friday that the company has shipped the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Tropospheric Emission: Monitoring of Pollution (TEMPO) spectrometer, an air quality monitoring instrument, to the spacecraft manufacturer for integration. Ball will work closely with NASA and the manufacturer to support spacecraft integration and testing. The TEMPO mission is scheduled to launch sometime in 2022.

Ball Aerospace has completed the spacecraft and payload assembly integration of NASA's Imaging X-Ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) space-based astrophysics observatory. With the completion, Ball will start environmental testing of the observatory, including instruments and the spacecraft bus. “Moving IXPE into environmental testing is an important step gearing up towards launch this year,” said Dr. Makenzie Lystrup, vice president and general manager, Civil Space, Ball Aerospace.

Ball Corporation to Launch New Aluminum End Manufacturing Facility

Ball Corporation will develop a new aluminum end manufacturing facility in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The facility will begin production in early-2022 and expand over multiple years to create approximately 200 manufacturing jobs.
