CISA’s Bob Kolasky: New Acquisition Council Launches Efforts to Help Agencies Address Supply Chain Security Risks

 

Bob Kolasky, an official at the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, said the newly created Federal Acquisition Security Council has initiated its efforts to help agencies manage security risks to the supply chain, FCW reported Monday. FASC "is going to serve as the governance structure to elevate the security within federal acquisition processes,” Kolasky, head of CISA’s National Risk Management Center, said at an FCW briefing held July 16.

Bob Kolasky: Supply Chain Task Force Will Help Commerce Dept Develop Procurement Policy

Bob Kolasky, co-chair of the Information Communications Technology Supply Chain Task Force, said at a Chamber of Commerce conference that the group’s operations will develop regulations to procure foreign telecommunications products, FCW reported Thursday. Kolasky, also the director of the Department of Homeland Security’s National Risk Management Center, said the task force is working to identify vital functions nationwide that would shut down in the event of an attack.

The Office of Management and Budget is coordinating cybersecurity efforts with the Department of Homeland Security to enhance protection of the federal supply chain, FCW reported Wednesday. OMB's new Federal Acquisition Security Council launched efforts to support the DHS Information and Communications Technology Supply Chain Task Force manage security risks in acquisition and purchasing.

DHS Officials Discuss Efforts of Two Newly Formed Groups to Ensure Supply Chain Security

Officials from the Department of Homeland Security discussed the functions and responsibilities of two new organizations created to address cyber vulnerabilities in the technology supply chain during an Atlantic Council event, FCW reported Thursday. DHS formed a supply chain task force, while the Secure Technology Act passed by Congress created the Federal Acquisition Supply Chain Security Council intended to build cybersecurity resilience into federal acquisition rules.

Report: DHS Names Mark Kneidinger as National Risk Mgmt Center Deputy Chief in Series of Exec Moves

Mark Kneidinger, director of federal network resilience division at the Department of Homeland Security’s office of cybersecurity and communications, has been named deputy director of the National Risk Management Center, Federal News Radio reported Monday. He will serve as deputy to Bob Kolasky, who was appointed director of the center in August.
