Gene Dodaro: GAO Considers Cybersecurity a Top Priority for FY 2020

Gene Dodaro, U.S. comptroller general and head of the Government Accountability Office, said during a Senate subcommittee hearing that one of GAO’s priorities in fiscal year 2020 is cybersecurity, Federal News Network reported Friday. He said GAO expanded its cyber workforce from 140 to 175 employees this year and needs more resources to meet lawmaker requests around cybersecurity.

FBI’s Christopher Wray Talks Data Analysis, Cyber Training at Budget Hearing

OMB to Withhold Some Federal IT Spending Data on Public Site

The Office of Management and Budget will not publish select data on the federal government’s information technology spending for 2020 on the IT Dashboard web site, Bloomberg Government reported Tuesday. Officials will withhold information related to federal infrastructure, management and security investments as part of its “data masking decision,” according to the General Services Administration.

Patrick Shanahan: DoD Budget Request Continues to Back National Defense Strategy

Acting Defense Secretary and 2019 Wash100 Award winner Patrick Shanahan said the Trump administration’s $718 billion budget request for the Pentagon for fiscal 2020 needs to continue to implement the National Defense Strategy, the Department of Defense website reported Tuesday. The proposed DoD budget will “reflect difficult, but necessary, decisions that align finite resources with our strategic priorities,” Shanahan said on Tuesday during his testimony before the House Armed Services Committee.

President’s FY 2020 Budget Request Includes $88B for IT Spending at Civilian Agencies, DoD

The Department of Defense and civilian agencies would get approximately $87.8B in combined funds for information technology spending under President Donald Trump’s budget request for fiscal year 2020. Report: NASA to Request $21B in Funds for Fiscal 2020

OMB’s Russ Vought: Trump Plans to Designate Additional Defense Spending as OCO in FY 2020 Budget

Russ Vought, acting director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, said President Trump plans to propose a fiscal 2020 budget to fund defense and national security priorities without raising the spending caps.
