The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) implemented Cerner’s electronic health record system at Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, Washington, in October 2020 and VA officials said the initial go-live went smoothly. VA employees in Spokane used Cerner’s Millennium EHR platform to place more than 23,000 orders for admissions, medications and clinical tests during the first five days of deployment.

DoD to Deploy EHR System to Four More Bases in September

The Department of Defense will roll out in September its new electronic health records system to four additional bases in California and Idaho, the Military website reported Wednesday. DoD will field the Cerner-built MHS Genesis EHR system at three California-based sites - Travis Air Force Base, Army Health Clinic Presidio and Naval Air Station Lemoore – and at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho, effective Sept. 7.

John Windom Offers Updates on VA’s EHR System Implementation at House Panel Hearing

John Windom, executive director of the Department of Veterans Affairs’ office of electronic health record modernization, has said VA has created 18 workflow councils and completed state reviews of the first implementation sites since it initiated the adoption of a new EHR system, Healthcare Informatics reported Wednesday. Windom appeared before the House Veterans Affairs Committee's technology modernization subpanel Wednesday to provide updates on VA’s implementation of a Cerner-built EHR platform.
