Americans Remain Satisfied With Postal Service

The U.S. Postal Service took the top spot in a new poll by analytics and advisory firm Gallup that ranked the federal agencies based on the satisfaction of Americans. USPS received the highest rating, with 74 percent of respondents saying the agency is doing an "excellent" or "good" job, Gallup said Monday. The agency also ranked first place in 2014, 2017 and 2018.

Report: New Hellfire Missile Variant Aims to Avoid Civilian Casualties

The U.S. government developed a variant of the Hellfire air-to-surface missile designed to target terrorists without explosion and reduce the risk of civilian casualties, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday. The modified Hellfire missile, also known as R9X, comes with a ring of six blades that can cut through vehicle roofs or buildings to home in on the target. U.S. officials said the Department of Defense used R9X six times in its operations in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen and Somalia.

Rep. Will Hurd Appointed Lead Republican of Intelligence Modernization Subcommittee

Representative Will Hurd, former undercover officer at the CIA and cybersecurity entrepreneur, has been named a ranking member at the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence's Subcommittee on Intelligence Modernization and Readiness. Hurd's office said Friday that he's bringing his intelligence and cybersecurity background to the subcommittee and will follow through on information technology modernization policies under his new role.

John Edwards, chief information officer at the CIA, has said the agency should update its technology platforms and optimize its workforce to accelerate data collection and generate insights from gathered information, FedTech Magazine published Tuesday. “Increasing the edge over our adversaries, our operational advantage will be determined by the speed at which we sense, collect, ingest, condition, analyze and characterize data of the representative threat,” he said in his speech at the FedScoop Public Sector Innovation Summit held Dec. 4 in Washington, D.C.
