John Sherman Named DOD Acting CIO

John Sherman, principal deputy chief information officer at the Department of Defense since June 2020, has been appointed to serve as the Department of Defense CIO on an acting basis. He will oversee DOD's information technology operations until the Senate approves a permanent replacement for Dana Deasy, who stepped down from the CIO position when President Biden's administration officially began on Jan. 20th.

The Commercial Space Council seeks to identify how to accelerate intelligence deliveries that rely on commercial satellites. CIA Labs will host in-house science and technology R&D and collaborate with other federal laboratories, industry and academia for various scientific pursuits, the agency said Monday.

CIA Publishes Documents on ‘Aquiline’ Drone Program

The CIA has declassified documents about a reconnaissance drone project in the 1960s. The Aquiline project sought to develop reconnaissance drones based on birds’ flight characteristics. The drone has a wingspan of 10 feet for use in carrying infrared cameras, radio equipment, radar and other payloads.
