FBI to Integrate Iris Recognition Service in Biometrics Portfolio

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced that it will include a biometrics concept based on iris recognition in the agency’s portfolio of personal identification services for law enforcement entities. The FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) recently launched a pilot effort on iris recognition in 2013 and plans to officially begin the new service in Oct. 2020, Federal News Network reported Wednesday.

FBI Updating IT Workforce Recruitment Strategy

Brian Griffith, a program manager for the FBI, said at an AFCEA forum in Washington, D.C. that the bureau’s Criminal Justice Information Services division is revising its information technology recruitment strategy, Fedscoop reported Wednesday. Griffith told the attendees at the 2019 Law Enforcement and Public Safety Technology Forum that the FBI is looking for individuals with aptitude and a “sense of mission.”
