Govt IT Vet Sam Musa Appointed as GPO Chief Information Officer

Sam Musa, former chief of information technology services for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, has joined the Government Publishing Office as its new chief information officer. Musa’s new responsibilities include managing IT policies on the acquisition, implementation and operation of telecommunications and IT systems and ensuring the agency’s budget aligns with program plans and established financial guidelines, GPO said Monday.

Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, R-Mo., has introduced a bill aiming to protect U.S. citizens from the damages of an information breach. The congressman worked with the Financial Services Committee to develop the Consumer Information Notification Requirement Act that would affirm financial institutions' compliance with data security standards, Luetkemeyer said Friday in a release.

Equifax Acknowledges IT Shortcomings in GAO Audit Report on 2017 Data Breach

Report: DHS Names Mark Kneidinger as National Risk Mgmt Center Deputy Chief in Series of Exec Moves

Mark Kneidinger, director of federal network resilience division at the Department of Homeland Security’s office of cybersecurity and communications, has been named deputy director of the National Risk Management Center, Federal News Radio reported Monday.
