The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) announced that 61 federal employees graduated from its data science upskilling program after undergoing training between Sept. 2020 and Jan. 2021. OMB used the lessons learned from its Federal Cyber Reskilling Academy and the Census Bureau’s training initiative to help come with the data science upskilling program in August 2020.

DOE Unveils Funding Opportunities for Data Science, Computing Research Projects

The Department of Energy (DOE) intends to award a total of $34.5 million in funds to support research efforts on data science and computation-based approaches that could forecast harsh weather patterns, address scientific gaps and accelerate clean energy technology development. NSF Supports Institutes for Data Science Research, Education


The National Science Foundation (NSF) has launched a five-year effort to produce and gather research on data science, with regard to the areas of algorithm development, cyberinfrastructure and education. NSF said Tusday that its institutes under the Transdisciplinary Research in Principles of Data Science (TRIPODS) program will work to foster data science innovation.
