DOD Seeks Comments on Proposed Rule for Postaward Debriefings

The Department of Defense (DOD) has proposed changes to the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation (DFARS) Supplement to implement a provision in the fiscal year 2018 National Defense Authorization Act that provides offerors enhanced rights with regard to postaward debriefings for competitively negotiated contracts, delivery and task orders. Comments on the proposed rule are due July 19th.

DPC Report: Pentagon’s OTA Obligations Hit $16.3B in 2020

An annual report by the Defense Pricing and Contracting (DPC) Agency shows that the Department of Defense (DOD) obligated $16.3 billion in funds on other transaction authority awards in 2020, up from the previous year’s $7.4 billion. Of the $16.3 billion, DOD spent $7.7 billion on OTAs related to COVID-19 pandemic response efforts, according to the report.

Final Rule Authorizing CMMC Req’s for DoD Contracts Takes Effect; Katie Arrington Quoted

A rule finalizing the Department of Defense’s (DoD) implementation of Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements in DoD contracts has taken effect following delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Katie Arrington said that the Pentagon plans to issue a press release on contracts that will initially require CMMC certification soon.

DoD Seeks Feedback on Interim Rule for CMMC Implementation

The Department of Defense (DoD) is seeking comments on an interim rule to implement the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification framework and an assessment methodology as part of efforts to better protect unclassified data within the DoD supply chain and evaluate vendors’ implementation of cyber requirements. Stacy Bostjanick: DoD Eyes Completion of Cyber Certification Training, Assessment Guides in March

Stacy Bostjanick, director of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification policy office within the office of the defense undersecretary for acquisition and sustainment, said the first batch of third-party assessment organizations should be available by late summer and that the Pentagon intends to finalize the assessment and training guides for CMMC in March, Federal News Network reported Monday.
