The Defense Logistics Agency released a new plan to address global supply chain security issues including counterfeit platform components and compromised Commercial and Government Entity supplier codes. DLA Planning Deployment of Automated Bots for Routine Work

The Defense Logistics Agency is planning to deploy at least 75 platforms that run on robotic process automation to help personnel in menial tasks by the end of September, Federal News Network reported Friday. John Lockwood, RPA manager for the DLA, said at a recent Carahsoft and UiPath event that the agency has around 20 bots in operation and 30 more in production.

DoD CMO Releases Initial Enterprise Business Reform Plan

The Department of Defense’s office of the chief management officer issued an initial plan to reform DoD’s enterprise business operations on Friday. OCMO set up three reform teams – human resources, supply chain and logistics and category management - to “establish a culture of continuous improvement focused on results and accountability” and oversee four activities cited in Section 921 of the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal 2019, according to the report.

The Defense Logistics Agency is piloting a cloud-based warehouse management system in Corpus Christi, Texas, the agency said Thursday. DLA Modernizing Tech at Eastern Distribution Center in Pennsylvania

The Defense Logistics Agency has embarked on an effort to modernize operations at its Eastern Distribution Center in Susquehanna, Pa., DLA said Wednesday. The agency anticipates the modernization project will cost around $107 million with a return on investment within four years. Pilot projects such as the unmanned automated guided vehicle have been deployed to the EDC to help move material between locations.

Marine Corps Acquiring Updated Binocular Night Vision Goggles

The U.S. Marine Corps will acquire around 1,300 Squad Binocular Night Vision Goggles to transition away from the Army/Navy Portable Visual Search devices deployed since the 1990’s, DVIDS reported Tuesday. USMC’s program office plans to issue a final request for proposals for nearly 16,000 of the hybrid binocular night vision and clip-on thermal imaging devices in the near future.
