GAO Looks at DoD Inspector General Redundancy

The Government Accountability Office has reviewed the redundancy of activities, including human resources and public affairs, across six inspector general offices within the Department of Defense, GAO said Friday. GAO is working to determine whether IG offices of the Department of the Navy, U.S. Southern Command, Defense Logistics Agency, Defense Contract Management Agency and Defense Media Activity had cases of fragmentation, overlap or duplication.

Pentagon Watchdog Reviewing Air Force Certification for SpaceX Falcon Launch Vehicles

The Department of Defense’s inspector general plans to review the U.S. Air Force’s previous certification for SpaceX to offer its Falcon launch vehicles for military launch service contracts. DoD's watchdog announced an evaluation on Monday that will examine if the service branch complied with the Launch Services New Entrant Certification Guide while certifying the launch system.

DoD Inspector General Issues Summary of Unclassified, Classified Reports on Cybersecurity

The Department of Defense’s office of inspector general has released a summary of 20 unclassified and four classified reports related to cybersecurity and found that the Pentagon continues to encounter challenges in managing cyber vulnerabilities to its network. The Government Accountability Office and the Pentagon’s oversight community issued those reports from July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018, according to OIG’s report published Wednesday.
