Brandon Wales: CISA Invests $650M in American Rescue Plan Funds for Threat Intell

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has earmarked $650 million from its  American Rescue Plan Act funding to transition its EINSTEIN threat intelligence system to various programs. The agency is additionally working to complete the Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) effort’s phases one and two which are slated to conclude in 2021.

CISA: Hacker Launches Cyber Attack on Federal Agency Using Multistage Malware

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has found that a cyber threat actor exploited compromised credentials to implant a multistage malware and launch a cyber attack on a federal agency’s network. CISA has recommended that agencies monitor network traffic for unusual open ports, large outbound files and other suspicious activities, deploy an enterprise firewall.

DHS Looks to Update Cybersecurity Sensor System for Cloud Compliance

The Department of Homeland Security is looking to refine its system of cybersecurity sensors to adapt to the needs of more complex cloud platforms, Nextgov reported Wednesday. Jeanette Manfra, leader of the department's cybersecurity division, said that their current Einstein sensor system is not built to detect cloud threats, but the DHS is partnering with industry to address this.
