SBA Issues Potential $130M Contract Under EIS Modernization Program

GSA to Complete Schedule Consolidation Activities by Year’s End

The General Services Administration is continuing efforts to unify 24 schedules into one contract vehicle to support its goal of simplifying procurement procedures for agencies and offerors, FCW reported Wednesday. Alan Thomas, commissioner of the GSA Federal Acquisition Service, told attendees at an AFFIRM event that the FAS plans to complete transition activities and address "special cases” by the end of the year.

Gary Washington: USDA to Issue Task Order Under GSA’s $50B Enterprise IT Contract

Gary Washington, chief information officer of the Department of Agriculture, said at an ACT-IAC event that the department plans to issue a task order for systems modernization support in the coming days, FCW reported Tuesday. GSA IG: Federal Acquisition Service ‘Ineffective’ in Administering Enterprise IT Modernization Contract

The General Services Administration’s Office of the inspector general released a report on Friday stating that the GSA Federal Acquisition Service’s ineffective contract oversight led to issues in the Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions transition effort. The IG said that FAS failed to ensure that the Transition Ordering Assistance task order met the requirements for the EIS information technology modernization initiative.

Alan Thomas: GSA to Extend Legacy Telecom Contracts to Facilitate Transition to $50B EIS Vehicle

Alan Thomas, commissioner of the General Services Administration’s Federal Acquisition Service, has said GSA will extend for up to three years its existing contracts for telecommunications services to give agencies enough time to transition to the potential 15-year, $50B Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions contract. Thomas wrote in a blog post published Thursday that the extended legacy contracts such as Networx, local service agreements and WITS will have a one-year base term and two option years.

GSA’s Alan Thomas on Technology Modernization Fund, EIS Contract

Alan Thomas, commissioner of the General Services Administration’s Federal Acquisition Service, told Federal News Radio in an interview published Thursday about the factors he looks for in proposals for the next round of awards under the Technology Modernization Fund. “I’m always focused on if someone will spend money with an industry partner, I’m looking at what vehicle are they using, is it shovel ready, and I tend to be a little bit of stickler on payback,” he told the station’s Ask the CIO program.
