Report: White House Eyes Eric Hysen for DHS CIO Role

The White House is expected to name Eric Hysen, former executive director of the Department of Homeland Security’s digital service, as chief information officer at DHS in the coming weeks. Hysen is expected to oversee data center consolidation, cloud and other information technology modernization efforts at DHS, which has an IT budget of $7.3 billion in fiscal year 2021.

Ken Corbin, wage and investment commissioner at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), will assume the position of chief taxpayer experience officer at the agency. He will also help IRS disseminate information on industry trends, taxpayer expectations and customer service practices. Corbin manages over 35,000 employees and oversees annual tax filing activities in the U.S. in his current capacity as W&I commissioner.

The Senate voted 84-15 Monday to confirm Janet Yellen, former chair of the Federal Reserve, as secretary of the Department of the Treasury (USDT). Yellen’s confirmation made her the first woman to hold the top post at the Treasury. She is a labor economist who also served as vice chair of the Federal Reserve and chair of the Council of Economic Advisers during the Clinton administration.
