Patrick Shanahan Talks DoD’s Digital Modernization Strategy

Deputy Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan told Defense News in an interview published Monday that the Pentagon has a “really great road map” for digital modernization. Report: Tanya Skeen to Become Executive Director at F-35 Joint Program Office

Tanya Skeen, head of the U.S. Army’s rapid capabilities office, will join the F-35 joint program office in early 2019 as executive director, Defense News reported Tuesday. Skeen will succeed Todd Mellon and work with Navy Vice Adm. Mat Winter, F-35 program executive officer, and Air Force Maj. Gen. Eric Fick, deputy PEO, on the fighter jet procurement effort.

USAF Submits Squadron Readiness Plans; Heather Wilson Quoted

The U.S. Air Force is looking to boost the readiness rates of its F-22, F-35 and F-16 aircraft squadrons, according to a recently submitted plan, Defense News reported Saturday. These squadrons are currently at readiness levels below Secretary of Defense James Mattis' required rate of 80 percent.

Trump Discusses Defense Matters at Luke AFB

President Trump made a visit to Luke Air Force Base, Ariz., on Friday to talk with officials about U.S. military technology and weapons, as well as the 56th Fighter Wing's training activities with the F-35 aircraft. Discussions revolved around the topics of cybersecurity, F-35 development, stealth technology, foreign military sales and other defense matters, the U.S. Air Force said Saturday.
