Report: Agencies Introduce IT Reskilling Initiatives for Employees

Federal agencies are launching reskilling programs to provide employees new career opportunities in the field of information technology, Federal News Network reported Wednesday. Dorothy Aronson, chief information officer at the National Science Foundation, said NSF is overseeing a pilot to assess an online learning platform, Udacity, to help volunteers from agencies learn the skills needed to become data scientists or data analysts.

Federal CIO Council Forms Federal Mobility Group

The Federal Chief Information Officer Council has announced a new group to serve as an information sharing channel for mobile technology activities across the federal government. The Federal Mobility Group would facilitate cross-agency information sharing on mobile policy, guidance, mobile device and service procurement and federal mobility program requirements, the Federal CIO Council said Wednesday.

OMB Issues Federal Cloud Computing Strategy; Suzette Kent Quoted

The Office of Management and Budget released the final Cloud Smart strategy on Monday to help federal agencies accelerate the adoption of cloud platforms. The Federal Cloud Computing Strategy retains the proposed programs and measures stated in the draft strategy issued in September and calls for agencies to rationalize their application portfolios to facilitate cloud adoption.
