Navy, HHS Advance Agile Acquisition Culture; James Geurts, Oki Mek Quoted

The U.S. Navy and the Department of Health and Human Services are adopting an agile approach to accelerate the procurement process and stay ahead of technology trends, Federal News Network reported Monday. James Geurts, assistant secretary of the Navy for research, development and acquisition, said the service is asking private sector talent to work in the government for a few years as part of its agile acquisition efforts.

Jose Arrieta: HHS Eyes Blockchain Tech Partnership With DISA for Identity Verification

Jose Arrieta, chief information officer at the Department of Health and Human Services, said HHS plans to team up with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) to leverage the HHS Accelerate blockchain procurement system in identity management, Federal News Network reported Thursday. Arrieta said he plans to meet with DISA officials to discuss a pilot project to link the blockchain tool to a user’s mobile phone or wearable device to better track behavioral data for identity verification.

Blockchain-AI Tool to Help HSS Collect Live Acquisition Data

The Department of Health and Human Services received approval to use blockchain and artificial intelligence based tools to collect data from the contracting systems to provide live acquisition information, Federal News Network reported FridayHHS Accelerate received the authority to operate on Monday and is expected to immediately start gathering data from five federal contract-writing systems with nearly 100K contracts worth nearly $25B.
