DHS Launches Bug Bounty Program for Information Systems

The Department of Homeland Security has launched a new bug bounty program with the Office of Management and Budget to gather information on cyber vulnerabilities. DHS' Office of the Chief Information Security Officer requests firms and other organizations to submit information on security weaknesses detected within the department's information systems, DHS said Wednesday in a Federal Register notice.

The Department of Commerce has given U.S. firms more time to cut all connections between their information technology infrastructures and Huawei, Nextgov reported Monday. The department changed the original Aug. 19 deadline to Nov. 19 due to the dependence of some rural companies on the Chinese technology firm.

Tony Braswell: Air Force Unveils Strategic Plan to Change Acquisition Culture

Tony Braswell, director of contracting at Hanscom Air Force Base, said the service branch is launching a strategic plan to transform its acquisition culture, the Air Force reported Friday. “So we’re changing the culture, becoming more proactive than reactive and less risk averse,” Braswell said during a Hanscom Representative Association meeting held on June 18 in Lexington, Mass."

Lt. Gen. Arnold Bunch on Air Force’s Light-Attack Experiment

Lt. Gen. Arnold Bunch, military deputy for the office of the assistant secretary of the Air Force for acquisition, has said he has ideas of how the service would move forward with the light-attack experiment, Defense News reported Friday. “We are planning to broaden the experimentation out and carry the experimentation forward, and I think when our budget hits, you’ll understand more of what we’re doing,” he said Friday at an Air Force Association event.
