IG Report: GSA Must Improve Oversight of Insider Threat Program

The General Services Administration’s (GSA) Office of Inspector General (OIG) is recommending the agency to improve information sharing and internal communications regarding its Insider Threat Program (ITP). The GSA OIG said in the report released Wednesday that the agency must work on its organizational collaboration efforts to proactively detect, mitigate and prevent insider threats.

DHS Expands Scope of Insider Threat Program

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has updated its privacy impact assessment for the Insider Threat Program (ITP) by expanding ITP’s scope to include all persons who have or had access to DHS’ information, networks, facilities, equipment and related systems. Originally, the ITP focused on the prevention, mitigation and detection of unauthorized disclosure of classified data by DHS employees with active security clearances, DHS said in the updated PIA dated June 16.
