MDA Anticipates Next Generation Interceptor Contract Award This Month

The Pentagon is keeping the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) program on track by allowing the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) to push ahead with its plans to award potential five-year design and development contracts to two defense contractors this month. Boeing, Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin are leading three industry teams that are competing for the two contracts.

F-35 Joint Simulation Environment Test Schedule Pushed Back to 2021

The full-rate production phase for the F-35 fighter jet program faces another delay after the Department of Defense (DoD) pushed back testing in the Joint Simulation Environment from December 2020 of this year to sometime in 2021. The F-35 program was expected to receive Milestone C decision in December 2019, but that timeline was pushed back to March 2021.

Ellen Lord: DoD Must Consolidate Military Construction Funds to Meet ICBM Modernization Deadlines

Hon. Ellen Lord, the Department of Defense’s (DoD) acquisition head and a 2020 Wash100 Award recipient, said the Pentagon seeks to streamline military construction allocations to support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) missile modernization program. Lord’s office is currently negotiating with Congress on legislation that would allow projects at launch facilities in one location to be consolidated into a single contract.
