NCSC Issues New Strategy to Counter Foreign Intelligence Threats; Bill Evanina Quoted

The National Counterintelligence and Security Center introduced a new strategy that sets five strategic objectives to address foreign intelligence threats. The 2020-2022 National Counterintelligence Strategy seeks to safeguard the country’s critical infrastructure from foreign intelligence entities; reduce threats to U.S. supply chains; counter the exploitation of the U.S. economy; defend U.S. democracy against foreign influence threats; and counter foreign intelligence technical and cyber operations, NCSC said Monday.

Three Forthcoming Policy Directives to Facilitate Security Clearance Modernization

The Trump administration will issue three policy directives as part of efforts to modernize the security clearance process and begin the next phase of the Trusted Workforce 2.0 initiative, Federal News Network reported Wednesday. The first directive is a national security presidential memorandum that directs the director of national intelligence agency and the Office of Personnel Management to update the security clearance, suitability and credentialing processes.

National Counterintelligence & Security Center Warns US Firms of Foreign Intell Threats With Informative Materials

A center within the Office of the Director of National Intelligence has begun to distribute brochures, videos, flyers and other informative materials to increase awareness about foreign intelligence threats and help U.S. companies protect themselves from nation-state actors. “American companies are squarely in the cross-hairs of well-financed nation-state actors, who are routinely breaching private sector networks, stealing proprietary data, and compromising supply chains," William Evanina, director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center, said in a statement published Monday.
