Bob Kolasky: CISA Gains Insight Into 2020’s SolarWinds Cyber Attack

Bob Kolasky, assistant director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency's (CISA) National Risk Management Center (NRMC), said his team has studied the software risks associated with last year's SolarWinds hack. SolarWinds was a Russian malware attack that affected Orion software in multiple federal agencies. Kolasky said NRMC assessed SolarWinds-related software risks over a span of four months.

Bob Kolasky, assistant director of the National Risk Management Center (NRMC), said the key to 5G implementation is having software security tools to isolate sources of risk and prevent subsequent vulnerabilities. CISA Establishes Cybersecurity Risk Mitigation Venture

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has launched a venture under its National Risk Management Center that will oversee cyber threat mitigation efforts in support of systems critical to economic and national security. NRMC plans to achieve an initial operating capability for the architecture this year. CISA additionally intends to fund national laboratories in support of other software assurance efforts.

CISA’s Bob Kolasky: New Acquisition Council Launches Efforts to Help Agencies Address Supply Chain Security Risks

 

Bob Kolasky, an official at the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, said the newly created Federal Acquisition Security Council has initiated its efforts to help agencies manage security risks to the supply chain, FCW reported Monday. FASC "is going to serve as the governance structure to elevate the security within federal acquisition processes,” Kolasky, head of CISA’s National Risk Management Center, said at an FCW briefing held July 16.
