Joint Advisory Sheds Light on Russian Intell Agency’s Brute Force Cyber Campaign

The FBI, National Security Agency, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and the U.K. government’s national cybersecurity center have issued a joint advisory on a brute force campaign by Russian military intelligence against U.S. and foreign organizations. The brute force capability enables threat actors to gain access to email and other protected data and identify valid account credentials through password guessing and other extensive login attempts.

Joint Advisory Outlines Russian Intell Agency’s Additional Cyber Exploitation Techniques

The FBI, National Security Agency (NSA), Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the U.K. government’s national cybersecurity center have issued a joint advisory to outline additional cyber tactics, techniques and procedures used by Russian foreign intelligence service actors to compromise networks. The document came nearly a month after CISA, FBI and NSA issued an advisory listing five network vulnerabilities.

NCSC Issues Report on Insider Threat Mitigation for Critical Infrastructure

The National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC) has released a report to raise awareness of the threat posed by humans to critical infrastructure and provide best practices on how to mitigate insider threats. NCSC discussed how critical infrastructure entities can adopt insider threat programs to identify and address vulnerabilities and prevent adversaries from exploiting such vulnerabilities.

ODNI, Intel Senior Leaders on US Supply Chain Security, Semiconductor Manufacturing Needs

Joyce Corell, an official at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), said the U.S. must execute risk-based supply chain security management strategies following the SolarWinds cyber attacks. Under the Structured Array Hardware for Automatically Realized Applications (SAHARA) partnership, DARPA and Intel will work with academic entities to optimize the semiconductor's use.

Evanina said that it is “110 percent” likely that the People’s Republic of China has collected personal data from  Americans through the nation's health care systems.
