Five Agencies Show Progress in Eighth FITARA Scorecard

The eighth iteration of the Federal Information Technology Acquisition Reform Act scorecard shows that five agencies saw improvement in their letter grades. The agencies showing progress in their letter grades are the departments of Defense, Agriculture, Justice and Treasury and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Eleven federal agencies maintained their scores, while five agencies showed a drop in their letter grades.

Jonathan Feibus: Cloud Adoption Offers Flexibility to Nuclear Regulatory Commission

Jonathan Feibus, chief information security officer at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, has said NRC has begun to update several internal applications as part of its cloud migration effort, Federal News Network reported Wednesday. “We’ve recently moved to a number of cloud applications for productivity apps like the office suite, like email,” he said on the network’s Federal Monthly Insights-Application Services Month.

DOE Issues Restrictions on Sharing Civilian Nuclear Tech With China

The Energy Department has issued a new policy framework regulating cooperation between the U.S. and China concerning the sharing of civilian nuclear technology. The DoE said on Thursday that the new framework was developed due to concerns that China may be attempting to acquire nuclear technology from U.S. companies in such a manner that is, in the words of Energy Secretary Rick Perry, “outside of established processes of U.S.-China civil nuclear cooperation.”

GAO: NRC Should Monitor Compliance of Motor Carriers That Transport Radioactive Sources
