John Ratcliffe (R-Texas) on Tuesday fielded questions from members of the Senate Intelligence Committee during his confirmation hearing for the role of national intelligence director, CNN reported. Senators questioned Ratcliffe over his views on the intelligence community’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential elections, treatment of whistleblowers under the Trump administration and origin of the new coronavirus in China.

Trump Directs Intell Community Cooperation on 2016 Election Investigation

President Trump is calling on the intelligence community to “quickly and fully cooperate” with investigations on alleged surveillance operations during the 2016 presidential elections, the White House said Thursday. Trump is directing the community to comply with the attorney general, who is tasked with examining potential cases of election-related interference and will have full and complete authority to declassify information relevant to the investigation.
