NASA Picks 25 Space Tech Platforms Under ‘Flight Opportunities’ Program

NASA has awarded 20 industry and academic organizations funds worth approximately $10M combined to develop their proposed space technology platforms for commercial test flights under the agency’s Flight Opportunities program. The space agency said Thursday the 25 selected technologies deal with two topic areas meant to support NASA’s lunar exploration objectives through the Artemis program.

Navy, Two Universities Partner to Create Postgraduate Defense Engineering, Tech Course

A field activity of the U.S. Navy's Naval Sea Systems Command has partnered with Purdue University and U.K.-based Cranfield University to create a postgraduate educational program to help students learn defense engineering and technology skills. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, will offer the dual master's degree program with a concentration in expeditionary warfare to address a workforce development requirement, NAVSEA said Monday.

Air Force Taps Academia to Expand Hypersonic Testing Facilities

The U.S. Air Force is partnering with Purdue University and the University of Notre Dame in Indiana to expand its testing facilities for future hypersonic technologies, Military.com reported Tuesday. Air Force spokesperson Ann Stefanek said the universities will build “quiet wind tunnels” to reduce free stream disturbances and for more accurate aerothermodynamics predictions.

NASA Presents 10th Batch of CubeSat Demonstrators

NASA unveiled a batch of candidates to participate in CubeSat satellite missions to take place over the next three years. NSF to Add New Natural Hazards Research Network Components
