Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division pursues prototyping of autonomous detection systems via other transaction authority, an alternative, accelerated procurement approach. AFRL, Michigan Technological University Form Emergency Raft Design Collaboration

The Air Force Research Laboratory has joined forces with students from Michigan Technological University to develop life raft platforms to support sea-based rescue efforts. AFRL researchers will help the U.S. Coast Guard develop a portable and lightweight raft offering fast deployment through helicopters and can carry approximately 100 passengers in 24 hours, the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base said Wednesday.

Ellen Lord: DoD to Issue Other Transaction Authority Handbook Later This Month

Ellen Lord, defense undersecretary for acquisition and sustainment, has said the Defense Department plans to introduce later this month a handbook on the use of other transaction authority, Inside Defense reported Thursday.
