Air Force Releasing Final Nat’l Security Space Launch RFP in April

Lt. Gen. John Thompson, the U.S. Air Force’s Space And Missile Systems Center commander, said the military branch is releasing a final launch services solicitation within the next two weeks, Space News reported Wednesday. Thompson noted in a testimony to the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces that competition for the National Security Space Launch program must push through according to schedule despite industry concerns.

Report: Air Force Eyes March 29 Release of Final Launch Service Procurement Solicitation

An Air Force official said service leaders and Ellen Lord, defense undersecretary for acquisition and sustainment and a 2019 Wash100 Award winner, are scheduled to meet on Thursday to discuss the details of the final request for proposals for the Launch Service Procurement program, SpaceNews reported Saturday. The report said the service issued draft RFPs in December and February with plans to release the final solicitation on Friday, March 29, for the LSP program.

Soraya Correa, chief procurement officer at the Department of Homeland Security, has released a notice to guide the industry on the submission of responses to requests for information and solicitations issued on or before Dec. 21. According to a FedBizOpps notice published Thursday, the document does not cover the procurement and contracting actions of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Federal Emergency Management Agency and Federal Protective Services.

Capt. Ben McNeal: Navy Wants Industry to Back IT Modernization, Compliance via NGEN Recompete

Navy Capt. Ben McNeal, program manager for Naval Enterprise Networks, has said the service wants industry to help upgrade the branch’s information technology systems within the budget while pursuing compliance, Federal News Radio reported Tuesday. “One of the biggest things we are looking for is a way to trap the mouse with respect to how we can spend the dollars and get the dollars to go the furthest with respect to the limited dollars we have to spend and balancing between obsolescence and trying to transform in our current architecture,” he said Monday at the AFCEA Navy IT Day in Arlington, Va.
