House Panel’s Draft DHS Appropriations Bill Includes $50B for DHS; $2.25B for CISA


The House Appropriations Committee on Monday released a draft bill that would authorize $50.72 billion in fiscal year 2021 discretionary funds for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The measure would provide the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) with $2.25B in FY 2021 funds, reflecting a $239.1 million increase from FY 2020.

FBI, Secret Service Team Up to Address Illegal Activities Amid Pandemic


The FBI and the U.S. Secret Service have partnered in efforts to safeguard people in the country against fraudulent schemes and other crimes during the COVID-19 crisis. "We are working aggressively to enforce the law and are devoting unprecedented resources to pursuing those who seek to undermine the nation’s response effort," Michael D’Ambrosio -- assistant director of the U.S. Secret Service's investigations office -- and Terry Wade -- executive assistant director of the FBI's criminal, cyber, response and services branch -- said in a joint statement published Wednesday.

Americans Remain Satisfied With Postal Service

The U.S. Postal Service took the top spot in a new poll by analytics and advisory firm Gallup that ranked the federal agencies based on the satisfaction of Americans. USPS received the highest rating, with 74 percent of respondents saying the agency is doing an "excellent" or "good" job, Gallup said Monday. The agency also ranked first place in 2014, 2017 and 2018.

Secret Service Lead Randolph Alles Joins DHS as Head of Management

Randolph Alles, former director of the U.S. Secret Service, has been appointed acting deputy under secretary for management at the Department of Homeland Security, replacing former Deputy Under Secretary Chip Fulghum. He will oversee management programs, including financial, human capital, information technology, procurement, security and asset management, Kevin McAleenan, acting homeland security secretary and 2019 Wash100 Award winner, said in a statement posted Friday. Alles left his role with the Secret Service last week after two years.
