USAF Names New Combat Rescue Helicopter

The U.S. Air Force has named its newest Sikorsky-made rescue helicopter after the model's Vietnam-era predecessor. The HH-60W, now named Jolly Green II, succeeds the HH-3E Jolly Green helicopter that performed rescue operations during the Vietnam war, USAF said Thursday. The new helicopter would replace the existing HH-60G Pave Hawk.

US Marines Log 1M Flight Hours With CH-53E Heavy Lift Helicopter

The U.S. Marine Corps has recorded 1 million flight hours for its CH-53E Super Stallion fleet since the heavy-lift helicopter platform, manufactured by Lockheed Martin's Sikorsky subsidiary, entered service in 1981. NAVAIR: New Presidential Helicopter Production to Start Soon

The Naval Air Systems Command will begin production for the Sikorsky VH-92A helicopter aircraft, USNI News reported Monday. The command received three helicopter units and is slated to make a milestone decision at the end of May in line with the aircraft's production. The military service expects the aircraft to enter initial operational capability in 2020 and full-production efforts in 2023.
