Navy Develops Cloud Environment for Big Data Computing

The Office of Naval Research is working to develop a cloud platform that would address computing challenges that come the increase of data sources. ONR partnered with the U.S. Navy's small business innovation research program to create Cloud-to-Edge, a cloud computing environment designed to facilitate big data processing for warfighters, the service branch said Tuesday.

Rep. Mac Thornberry Releases FY20 NDAA Proposals on Acquisition, Industry Participation

Rep. Mac Thornberry, R-Texas, introduced two proposals for inclusion in the fiscal 2020 National Defense Authorization Act to improve acquisition procedures and promote industry engagement, the House Armed Services Committee said Thursday. DOE Announces $95M Funding for SBIR, STTR Phase II

The Department of Energy intends to award $95 million in 86 grants across 74 firms under the Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs. The grants cover phase II of the programs and would finance projects that passed technical feasibility qualifications during the first phase, DOE said Monday. Each awardee would receive a grant valued around $1 million covering a two-year research and development period for prototyping.

DOE Launches Grant Program to Support Science R&D Efforts

The Department of Energy will award 189 research and development grants worth a total of $33M in support of the Office of Science’s efforts to study the feasibility of new technology, DOE said Monday. The department will select 149 small businesses in 32 states to participate in R&D programs for the Office of Advanced Scientific Computing, Office of Basic Energy Sciences, Office of Biological and Environmental Research and Office of Nuclear Physics.
