Stacy Cummings to Take Acting Undersecretary Role for DoD

Stacy Cummings will succeed Hon. Ellen Lord, 2020 Wash100 Award recipient, as undersecretary for acquisition and sustainment at the Department of Defense (DoD), effective Jan. 20th. Cummings will assume the role until President-elect Joe Biden appoints a Senate-confirmed official to the position. Cummings currently serves as acting deputy assistant secretary for acquisition at DoD and is a career member of the Senior Executive Service.

Three DoD Officials to Lead Implementation of Software Acquisition Study’s Recommendations

Three Department of Defense leaders have been selected to implement the approved recommendations within the four lines of effort of the Defense Innovation Board’s Software Acquisition and Practices study, FedScoop reported Monday. The four lines of effort are refactoring regulations, statutes and processes for software, creating cross-program and cross-service digital infrastructure, establishing new paths for digital talent and changing software procurement and development practices.
