USAF Gen. John Hyten: Single Entity Could Address Integration Issue Between Satellites, Terminals

Air Force Gen. John Hyten, commander of U.S. Strategic Command, said he believes a single organization can address the synchronization issue between satellites and their corresponding terminals, National Defense reported Wednesday. Hyten said at the Space Symposium that Air Force Gen. John “Jay” Raymond, who was nominated to serve as head of U.S. Space Command in March, could play a role in addressing the problem.

STRATCOM Head Says Navy Subs Could Carry New Low Yield Nuclear Missiles

Air Force Gen. John Hyten, commander of U.S. Strategic Command, said the Navy intends to equip its submarines with the future low-yield nuclear missiles replacing large weapons that adversaries could easily detect, USNI News reported Thursday. “We’ll actually remove big weapons from the submarines and put small ones in,” Hyten told the House Armed Services strategic forces subcommittee. “We think that smaller yield actually gives us a better chance to deter our primary adversary.”

Pentagon Certifies Joint Missile Defense Training Group as Center of Excellence

The Defense Department has granted a Center of Excellence certification to a U.S. Strategic Command organization that fosters missile defense training for service, joint and theater operations. The Joint Ballistic Missile Defense Education and Training Center or JBTEC received CoE certification after a year of preparation, becoming the first ever joint CoE the U.S. Army said Tuesday.
