The U.S. Air Force wrapped up a $243 million modernization project that sought to augment energy efficiency and resiliency at Tinker AF Base in Oklahoma. "The ISO 50001 Energy Management System certification also satisfies the Air Force Sustainment Center’s Art of the Possible for continuous energy improvements," said Joseph Cecrle, energy manager at OC-ALC.

Air Force Conducts Construction Effort for KC-46A Aircraft Infrastructure

The Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) partnered with Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) and the Army Corps of Engineers to facilitate a multi-phase construction program that aims to build the infrastructure for the KC-46A Pegasus aerial refueling vehicle. AFCEC wrapped up building at McConnell Air Force Base in 2017.

Tinker AFB Unveils 3D Printing Project for Aircraft Engine Component

The Tinker Air Force Base's Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex manufactured a 3D-printed anti-ice gasket meant to work with the TF33-P103 aircraft engine. The Reverse Engineering and Critical Tooling Lab digitally engineered and printed 3D anti-ice gaskets, while the 76th Propulsion Maintenance Group conducted engine acceptance tests for the components.

USAF Squadron Performs Live Mission With New Control Tech

The U.S. Air Force's 752nd Operations Support Squadron has conducted the unit's initial live mission with a new ground-based weapons system. The squadron used the AN/TYQ-23A Tactical Air Operations Module from Tinker Air Force Base to command and control aircraft across the U.S., USAF said Sunday.
