Gen. Paul Funk on Army TRADOC’s Efforts to Modernize Training Activities

Gen. Paul Funk, commanding general of the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), said the command is updating its training organization framework to cover threats from China and Russia. Army Developing Simulated Environment for Region-Based Combat Training

The U.S. Army has developed a simulated training environment to help refine the combat skills of warfighters based on real geographic regions. The service also plans to integrate elements to better reflect environmental conditions for Australian, New Zealand, Canadian and United Kingdom allies. The Army currently plans to refine DATE World to further include gaming elements, a geographical information system and other visualization and mapping concepts.

Army Reorganizing TRADOC to Focus on Enterprise Multidomain Ops

Two units under the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) that managed counter-unmanned aerial system (UAS) programs will discontinue operations in a push to transition funds from counterinsurgency activities to large-scale, multidomain combat operations. The Army plans to terminate the operations of its Rapid Equipping Force (REF) and Asymmetric Warfare Group (AWG) by Sept. 31st, 2021.
