President Trump has nominated Maj. Gen. John Shaw, commander of the Combined Force Space Component Command (CFSCC) and the Space Operations Command, to serve as deputy commander at the U.S. Space Command. Shaw will elevate to the rank of lieutenant general once he receives confirmation from the Senate, the Department of Defense (DoD) said Thursday.

Gen. John Raymond, commander of the U.S. Air Force Space Command, was nominated by President Trump to serve in the same position at the U.S. Space Command. Once confirmed, Raymond will help the command carry out joint space war fighting missions and maintain combat readiness as part of his new role, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
