Former Delta Air Senior VP Stephen Dickson Senate-Confirmed to Lead FAA

The Senate has confirmed Stephen Dickson, a former senior vice president of flight operations at Delta Air Lines, as administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration following a 52 to 40 vote, Reuters reported Thursday. Dickson will succeed Dan Elwell, who served as the FAA's acting administrator since 2018.

AFRL Hosts Collaborative Machine Learning Event with DoD, Universities

Engineers and scientists from the Department of Defense and Air Force Research Laboratory met with representatives from various universities to augment collaborative efforts and discuss potential machine learning research gaps. Attendees from the University of Chicago, University of Wisconsin-Madison and Toyota Technological Institute joined government experts to examine concerns in autonomous, command and control and artificial intelligence technologies, the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base said Tuesday.

Air Force Sec. Matthew Donovan Visits Partner Facilities

Matthew Donovan, acting secretary at the U.S. Air Force, toured three facilities in Florida to showcase the service branch's communications, air and space investments. Donovan examined the Kennedy Space Center's X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle processing facility and visited Northrop Grumman's design and development area for the B-21 Raider aircraft, the Air Force said Monday.

DLA Aviation Installs Vertical Lift Modules at Warner Robins AFB

The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation has received five vertical lift modules to help the agency optimize storage and access of aircraft components. The automated modules were installed at Warner Robins Air Force Base's F-15 and C-5 Ship-to-Shore Connector facilities and is expected to increase the base's storage capacity by 110 percent, DLA said Friday.

Air Force to Deliver Satellite, Space Debris Data Storage to Dept of Commerce

The U.S. Air Force is slated to hand over a library of space and satellite debris data to the Department of Commerce to delegate space notification responsibilities to the agency, Spacenews reported Friday. President Trump signed Space Policy Directive 3 ordering the Department of Defense to provide public space situational awareness data to the Department of Commerce.
