Allison Macfarlane Approved for New NRC Leadership Term

Allison MacfarlaneThe Senate has renewed Allison Macfarlane’s tenure as chairperson of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Washington Post reported Thursday.

Macfarlane will lead the NRC for another five-year term after the Senate confirmed her on Thursday, according to the report.

In a statement, Macfarlane vowed to boost transparency and public engagement at the NRC.

She has led the commission since 2012 after Gregory Jaczko resigned.

The Government Accountability Office has found that the U.S. Air Force intends to start fielding in fiscal 2020 new Combat Rescue Helicopters to replace aging HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters that have recorded the most flight time when it comes to staff recovery missions.
