Federal Chief Information Officer Steven VanRoekel told lawmakers that the combined strategy will also focus heavily on telework, Joseph Marks reports.
Reps. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and Gerry Connolly (D.-Va.) organized the Fairfax, Va. event where VanRoekel spoke with lawmakers on Friday, Marks reports.
Connolly told VanRoekel the strategy should focus on telework, saying it is necessary in the Washington region, which is contractor- and traffic-heavy.
VanRoekel told the group that he aims to reduce the number of technology contracts across the government by review mobile, email and PC contracts for possible consolidation.
He also told the group, according to Marks, that the digital reform initiative is a part of the PortfolioStat program.
