U.S. Army Maj. Ernesto Gumbs, deputy program manager of PES-HI, said the modernization program will help meet DoD telecommunications requirements and provide cost savings to U.S. Indo-Pacific Command customers in the long run.

The program succeeds the 12-year Joint Hawaiian Information Transfer System contract, which authorized the installation of 3,100 point-to-point intra-Hawaii transmission circuits to enable DoD telecommunication services, among other things.
