Rick Wagner, President of ManTech's MCIS Group, Receives Third Consecutive Wash100 Award From Jim Garrettson, CEO of Executive Mosaic

Jim Garrettson, founder and CEO of Executive Mosaic, presented Rick Wagner, president of the mission, cyber and intelligence solutions group at ManTech, his third consecutive Wash100 Award as part of the 2020 selection on Friday.

Executive Mosaic recognizes for leading efforts to drive cybersecurity, intelligence and other emerging technologies for the company and federal agencies. Wagner has continued to drive the company towards those goals and assisted federal agencies as they expand in the same areas.

“In today’s rapidly evolving Intelligence environment, emerging technologies play a critical role in safeguarding national and homeland security,” said Wagner. “Our commitment to developing and deploying secure, best-in-class technology solutions will help speed vital intelligence to decision-makers and those at the tactical edge, in near real-time.”

For cybersecurity, Wagner also said the government has to offer better incentives for cybersecurity talent as industries such as the banking sector increases demand for workers. There is a great challenge to improve the communication and collaborative efforts between the federal government and industry as well as maintaining a strong workforce to train and retain talent.

“If we focus on our employees and make them successful, then they will focus on our customers, the mission will succeed and the results will follow,” said Wagner.

Executive Mosaic congratulates ManTech and Rick Wagner on his third consecutive Wash100 Award this year. Wagner’s drive revenue for the company as well as push to innovate and expand cybersecurity, intelligence operations and mission IT capabilities for ManTech and federal agencies has established Wagner as one of the most influential contributors to the GovCon sector.

AAR Signs Letter of Intent with Air Canada to Develop Airframe Maintenance Center of Excellence; Rich Steer, Chris Jessup Quoted

AAR Aircraft Services Trois-Rivières ULC (AAR) has entered into a letter of intent with Air Canada regarding a ten-year, renewable agreement for airframe maintenance to develop an Airframe Maintenance Center of Excellence at its Trois-Rivières MRO in Quebec, Canada, AAR announced on Monday.

"We're excited to have a trusted partner like AAR with a similar commitment to excellence, and also proud to be supporting heavy maintenance work in Quebec, especially on wide-body aircraft. This contract for additional work in Trois-Rivières represents a long-term investment in increased airframe maintenance in Quebec," said Rich Steer, Senior Vice-President, Operations, Air Canada.

AAR will modernize facility infrastructure investments in Trois-Rivières to develop a Center of Excellence and accommodate the new wide-body A330 work of the combined Air Canada and Air Transat fleet.

The company will assist Air Canada in its efforts to expand its heavy maintenance services, which will stimulate new investment in aerospace and create more high-quality aircraft mechanic jobs. The company will work on Air Canada’s A330 and Air Transat. AAR will also maintain and expand airframe maintenance work in Quebec on the A320 family, including the A321-neo aircraft.

After work is completed, Air Canada expects incremental aerospace jobs will be created in Trois-Rivières and AAR's new capabilities will attract airframe maintenance work from other A330 operators.

The letter of intent is subject to completion of the Transat A.T. merger by Air Canada, requisite Board of Directors' approval and completion of final agreements, including terms generally applicable to large-scale airframe maintenance agreements.

"We are honored to work closely with a premier carrier like Air Canada for so many years and to be chosen as their maintenance provider for both the A330 and A320 family fleet types," said Chris Jessup, Chief Commercial Officer, AAR. "AAR is proud to support the Canadian economy and to grow our overall footprint in Trois-Rivières, especially for the A330."

BlackBerry Releases Spark Platform to Deliver Zero Trust Security for Unified Endpoint Security, Management; Billy Ho Quoted

BlackBerry Limited has launched the BlackBerry Spark Platform, featuring a new unified endpoint security (UES) layer which can work with BlackBerry unified endpoint management (UEM) to deliver zero trust security, the company announced on Monday.

“By validating user actions, the BlackBerry Spark platform continuously authenticates users to deliver a zero touch experience that improves security with no user interruption. In this way, dynamic trust is maintained across all devices, networks, data, users, and apps,” said Billy Ho, Executive Vice President of Enterprise Products at BlackBerry.

The new platform will leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning and automation to offer improved cyberthreat prevention and remediation, and visibility across desktop, mobile, server, and IoT endpoints.

BlackBerry will simplify administration to improve security. The company will  deliver the Spark Platform by operating on one agent across all endpoints and one console for administrators.

Threat data from all endpoints will be combined into one crowd-sourced repository and managed in one cloud environment to improve the security of multiple domains and multiple security vendors.

One Agent will supply comprehensive endpoint support using a single agent, for desktop and mobile, IoT; One Console will provide visibility across the enterprise to deliver security and zero trust with a zero touch end-user experience; One Crowd will leverage an AI-ML engine to detect and model threats; One Cloud will offer instant access to high security requirements to enable the global ecosystem.

The company will also deliver zero trust security by making contextual decisions based on large amounts of data and applying a set of policy controls to address the risks. BlackBerry Spark platform will offer the broadest set of security capabilities and visibility covering users, devices, networks, apps, and data.

The platform’s six complementary technologies or pillars are: Endpoint Protection Platform (EPP), Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Mobile Threat Defense (MTD), Continuous Authentication, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Secure Web Gateway.

“BlackBerry Spark platform is built to enable zero trust security, focused on earning trust across any endpoint and continuously validating that trust at every event or transaction,” Ho added.

Unisys Announces Stealth 5.0 to Provide Enhanced Security Software for Kubernetes Software; Sudhir Mehta Quoted

Unisys has announced the availability of Unisys Stealth 5.0, the latest version of the company's security software, to provide protection for data in container and Kubernetes environments, which will improve data center security and secure new workloads, Unisys reported on Monday.

"With Stealth 5.0, we make the use of these technologies seamless from a security standpoint, so clients can realize the agility, availability, manageability and scalability advantages offered by containerized microservices – while minimizing risk," said Sudhir Mehta, global vice president, product management, Unisys.

Unisys’ upgraded Stealth 5.0 will enable organizations to implement the company's technologies in a way that does not compromise their security or increase their attack surface. The software will help enterprises streamline security through implementing one set of security policies that will work across an entire digital infrastructure, including desktops, servers and the cloud.

In addition, Stealth 5.0 will improve the security and reliability of Internet of Things devices and other modern infrastructures such as containers, virtual machines and physical servers to reduce attack surfaces in these environments through developing dynamic, identity-driven microsegments called communities of interest (COIs).

Unisys will incorporate secure COIs to divide trusted systems, users and data from the untrusted. Stealth 5.0 will also reduce attack surfaces by encrypting all communication between Stealth-protected assets and cloaking the assets from unauthorized users.

Stealth 5.0 has incorporated additional capabilities, including enhanced secure virtual gateway (SVG) capabilities, expanded application program interface (API) and automation capabilities and enhanced dynamic isolation, to expedite deployment as well as improve clients’ enterprise diversity and security.

"Our clients are increasingly embracing the use of containers and Kubernetes as a means for more efficient applications development," Mehta added.
