David Logsdon, senior director of public advocacy at the Computing Technology Industry Association, recently unveiled on Capitol Hill the organizationâs guide on blockchain technology, StateScoop reported Wednesday. The guide, entitled âHarnessing the Blockchain Revolution,â offers a framework meant to help policymakers âunderstand the promise, the uses and the questions that blockchain currently presents.â
To stimulate blockchain innovation, the document also recommended that Congress establish a âregulatory sandboxâ–a controlled environment where blockchain research could be carried out with limited risk to developers and adopters.
In addition, the guide proposed that lawmakers convene a working group comprised of stakeholders from various sectors, whose responsibility will be to examine the different dimensions of the blockchain ecosystem, including security, regulation and standards.
In a statement, Logsdon said he and his organization hoped the guide would âdemystify blockchain technologyâ and help public officials determine âwhether blockchain might be the solution they are looking for to support essential government and public sector functions in an efficient, secure and transparent way.â
