Sanjiv Malhotra, a former consultant at the Energy Department’s fuel cells technologies office, has been appointed director of the clean energy investment center at DOE’s office of technology transitions.
Malhotra will oversee a center that will work to help investors access reports on clean energy-focused platforms, collaborate with technical experts and explore new project opportunies, DOE said Tuesday.
“Under Malhotra’s leadership, the center will play a significant and vital role in the administration’s Clean Energy Investment Initiative aimed at expanding private sector investment for innovative technologies that can reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change,†said Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz.
Malhotra founded and served as president and CEO of methanol fuel cells developer Oorja Protonics between 2005 and 2014.
He served as a researcher at the department’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and as an adviser at venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers.
He has also held executive management roles at H Power Corp. and DCH Technology.
