Tracy Terrill has been appointed in December to fill a newly created position as chief digital officer at the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Terrill supports the agency’s digital strategy under the new role, SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet said in a release published Tuesday.

“Tracy is a key member of my leadership team responsible for our digital strategy,” said Contreras-Sweet.

“In record time, Tracy has built a digital service team with top talent from both the private and public sector.”

Terrill said his work with SBA is similar to the role he previously held at LegalZoom, where he was chief technology officer for more than seven years.

Prior to that, Terrill also held sales, marketing, technology leadership and consultant positions at NBC Universal Studios, Universal Music Group, Warner Brothers and Gartner.

The General Services Administration will host a training and exhibition event from May 10 to 11 in Huntsville, Alabama.

Hosted by GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service, the event will feature acquisition and training sessions for federal, military and civilian personnel and industry partners, GSA said Tuesday.

“Since we moved away from hosting GSA Expo a few years ago, we’ve consistently heard from federal agencies and our industry partners that the valuable training and collaboration opportunities provided by GSA training events are still very much needed,” said Tom Sharpe, FAS commissioner.

“As the government makes major changes to the federal procurement landscape through category management, GSA is developing new tools and resources to support this community of professionals,” Sharpe added.

Registration to the event is free for all federal attendees.

The Office of Personnel Management has released new guidance on submission procedures and materials that government agencies can implement when they consider applications for the Qualification Review Board.

Beth Cobert, acting OPM director, said in a statement posted Friday that the guidance seeks to comply with an executive order titled “Strengthening the Senior Executive Service” that was released in December 2015.

OPM’s document also offers information on how agencies can streamline the initial recruitment processes and suggests a framework that agencies can adopt to address preferences and needs.

“The guidance further highlights for agencies a number of valuable opportunities for training, partnering, and piloting of additional assessments,” Cobert, an inductee into Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2016, wrote in the release.

OPM also intends to develop leadership evaluation methods and alternative ways to document executive qualifications in an effort to modify the QRB process as well as the recruitment procedures for SES positions.

OPM will also evaluate the agencies’ recruitment procedures and introduce changes to the SES hiring process within 120 days of the guidance’s release.
