Mittal Desai, senior adviser and risk analyst at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's (FERC) executive director office, has been appointed to serve as the agency's new chief information officer. He assumed his new role as the FERC's top information security official on Sunday, following Chairman Neil Chatterjee's announcement on Wednesday.
Desai formerly served as deputy chief information security officer of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). He helped FDIC develop, apply and maintain information security assets during his time with the agency. He is also a recipient of service recognitions such as the 2017 Federal Computer Week Federal 100.
“He is a seasoned IT leader who has served the commission very well in his current position and during his earlier career here as deputy chief information security officer and chief information security officer," Chatterjee said about Desai.
Desai first joined FERC in 2007 as an information technology specialist, then left in 2018 for FDIC. He then returned to the commission in April 2019.
