Alion Secures $40M NSWC Task Order under DoD IAC MAC; Alan Dietrich Quoted

Alion Science and Technology has been awarded a 36-month, $40 million task order to support Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane by providing sustainment and development of expeditionary weapon systems, the company reported on Wednesday.

“Alion’s strength in advancing ISR capabilities continues to drive technology advancements and innovation across our ISR and weapons systems solutions to support ongoing operations and future missions,” said Alan Dietrich, senior vice president and general manager of Alion. 

The task order was awarded under the Department of Defense Information Analysis Center (DoD IAC), Multiple Award Contract (MAC). Alion will assist NSWC Crane develop next generation, integrated weapons systems and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities for multiple platforms. 

Alion will provide ground and maritime mobility platforms, manned and unmanned, to enable quick-reaction and engineering analyses to support total life-cycle management of current and advanced small arms systems. 

The company will supply advanced engineering solutions, analyses, integration, test, assessment, and certification of systems of aging or obsolete components and systems. Alion will also incorporate advanced materials, processes and install state-of-the-art weapon systems technology.

Alion’s efforts will enhance the capabilities of platforms to ensure that warfighters receive the cutting-edge combat capabilities they need to accomplish their mission in forward-deployed areas around the globe.

“Alion continues to grow its ISR business, expanding its footprint in support of Crane with the continued utilization of our 57,000 sq. ft. System Sustainment Center campus, and capitalizing on our agile engineering approach and investments in technology and talent,” added Dietrich. 

On Monday, Alion announced an additional $75 million contract to support research, development, test, and evaluation of all Navy Minotaur software platforms for the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) and the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Crane.

Alion will develop the next generation of advanced systems, including airborne mission processors, mission management systems, multi-function active sensor radars, and Electronics Intelligence (ELINT) systems and Signal Intelligence (SIGINT) Systems. 

In addition, the company will support Communications Intelligence (COMINT) Systems and Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) systems to help advance Navy, Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) platforms. 

Alion will provide cybersecurity platforms and information assurance hardening of Minotaur software that the company will integrate across multiple sensors including electro-optics, radar, communications, signal intelligence systems and electronic support measures systems.
