The Department of Homeland Security plans to issue a contract in the coming weeks for a new dashboard to utilize artificial intelligence and machine learning to support the agency’s Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation program, FCW reported Wednesday.Â
DHS wants to integrate emerging technologies into the dashboard to improve access and management of data gathered through CDM. Kevin Cox, program manager for CDM, said the contract may come out “within the next few days.”Â
“It’s going to take us a few years to get everything in place, but this is what’s going to enable us to get to the more advanced capabilities,” Cox said. “Being able to bring in machine learning to interact with the data and get additional value for the agencies, bringing in AI to write the algorithms to really expand out what we can do with the data.â€
The selected contractor will also bring data into the new DHS risk-scoring algorithm, called AWARE, which works to assess cybersecurity of agencies. The algorithm is scheduled for soft launch in October.Â
