Mick Mulvaney, director of the Office of Management and Budget, has said President Donald Trump plans to release a detailed version of his budget plan in May that will include a strategy to address U.S. deficits, Reuters reported Sunday.Valerie Volcovici writes Mulvaney told NBC’s “Meet the Press” in an interview the White House does not expect the budget to be balanced in fiscal 2018 but said that the Trump administration will work to “get it to balance within the 10-year budget window.”
“Over the course of the next decade, we’ll have to look at the mandatory spending side in order to figure out a way to make changes to the way we spend money,” Mulvaney added.
He noted the president also could release a U.S. infrastructure modernization plan in the summer or fall.
Last week, Trump submitted a $1.1 trillion FY 2018 budget plan to Congress and requested $30 billion in supplemental military funds for the remainder of the current fiscal year.
