President Donald Trump intends to nominate Ellen Lord, president and CEO of Textron Systems, as undersecretary for acquisition, technology and logistics at the Defense Department, the White House announced Tuesday.
If confirmed, she will lead the current AT&L office and subsequently be undersecretary for acquisition and sustainment after DoD completes a mandated split of the organization into two functions by Feb. 1, 2018.
Lord assumed her current roles in 2012 after she served as senior vice president and general manager of Textron’s defense systems business.
She also held SVP and GM roles at Textron’s AAI Corp. subsidiary and VP of integration management at Textron Systems.
Lord is vice chair of the National Defense Industrial Association and a member of the Center for a New American Security’s task force on strategy, technology and the global defense industry.
She also sits on the board of directors of the Defense Technology Initiative, Naval Institute Foundation and the U.S. India Business Council.
